Unique properties of graphene are attracting great attention of scientists for various biomedical applications. Several attempts were already made to functionalize the surface of graphene oxide with polymers, surfactants and other chemical moiety in attempt to increase cellular uptake, to target particular organ, to reduce toxicity and to increase solubility. Literature report confirms all most 98% study outcome is promising conducted either in vitro or in vivo. The dose dependant toxicity of graphene might serve as tool to optimize formulation for effective delivery of drug to particular site in body. The applications of graphene in cell imaging and photodynamic therapy are being explored.
